Student Career Studio Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes underrepresented collegiate students and all the fantastic work, effort, resilience, and challenges they have overcome.
*Eligibility Criteria
- ● Full-time student in Fall 2024
- ● Attending a 2yr or 4yr college/university in the Houston area
- ● Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
- ●Graduation date of May 2025 or later
- ● Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
- ● Identify with an underrepresented group
- ● Cannot be a previous recipient of a Student Career Studio Scholarship
Almetta King & Talmadge King Sr. Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to remember the life and legacy of Almetta & Talmadge King Sr., who both passed away in 2018.
Almetta King was a retired McIntosh County educator. She was well-known by colleagues and others in the community. She was kind and compassionate; she could talk to anyone and stressed the importance of being nice to others. She loved her church, where she was a dedicated and active member.
Talmadge King Sr. was a WWII Veteran, entrepreneur, electronics repairman, Sergeant for the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department, and ordained elder. The family was important to him. He was hardworking and a great storyteller, and he was known for his sense of humor and quick wit.
Almetta and Talmadge will be remembered for their outstanding service to the McIntosh County community.
*Eligibility/Applicant Criteria
- ● Must be a current high school senior at McIntosh County Academy (MCA) in Darien, Georgia, who will be enrolled full-time in an accredited two or four-year college, university, or technical school in the Fall of 2024
● Must have attended MCA for four years (9th – 12th grades)
● Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
